Next Hermosillo Park Direct Impact Meeting is on 12/17/2025 at 5:30PM at Sanchez Elementary
Hermosillo Park closed in December 2025 and will remain closed until Spring 2028 — leaving residents without access to outdoor recreation for three years.
The city has approved a redevelopment plan that will replace key neighborhood amenities with:
Two synthetic turf soccer fields (leased for revenue)
An 8,000 sq ft banquet hall and community center, will also serve as a hub for "administrative offices"
A soccer-themed playground
Expanded parking and an amphitheater
The splash pad (critical during hot summers)
The four handball courts (historic community hub)
Large open spaces for free, unstructured play
