Key Concerns

1. Lack of True Community Input

“Community meetings” were not accessible for working families. There was NO:

• Door-to-door outreach

• Canvassing 

• Multiple timeslots or means of participation for the Community  during input meetings

• A culturally grounded call to action that recognizes the realities of our community — hardworking families whose voices were overlooked.
  
  

The result:
The people most affected had no real voice in shaping the plan.

2. Loss of Cultural and Community Amenities

Removing the splash pad and handball courts erases:

• Heat relief for families

• Generational sport culture

• Free gathering spaces

• Safe, unstructured play for youth
  
  

3. Revenue Over Residents

Two synthetic soccer fields leased for profit means:

• Kids can’t just show up and play

• Only organized teams benefit

• Open access becomes limited
  
  

4. Three Years With No Alternatives

With the park closed, families are left with:

• No walkable recreation

• No nearby playground

• No after-school safe space
  
  

And the city has provided no mitigation plan.
